Will my Muse Receptor make me a better musician, too much to ask!

Updated: Jul 28

For a few years now I have through the whole concept behind the Muse Receptor was just brilliant. In 2018 I did a rant about the fact that Muse Research had effectively stopped producing the Receptor Hardware and there was no support for the existing user base.

That original video is below.

Then about a year later I did a video where a subscriber to my YouTube chanel had stated that they were buying the SeeLake AudioStation as an alternative to the Muse Receptor. (Ignore the date on the title card, I checked the channel data and confirmed it was 2019.)

Over the course of several years the concept of the Muse Receptor has come up several times. A number of times I have looked at the second hand market and thought should I jump in and get a Receptor to really have the experience of using one.

Now those that follow me on the YouTube channel know that I am not a fan of 'VST's'. Not because of quality or any issues like that. But becasue I like to play the keys and turn the knobs, press the buttons and operate the faders.

The MUSE Receptor is in essence a VST player but on 'Steriods'. It has the loaded VST's, a mixer for the VST's and other features which make it in essence a band in a box.

Then out of the blue....

I was contacted by a supscriber to the YouTube channel that put me onto a guy that was selling a Receptor at a reasonable price. And a little bit of negotiation and I have bought it. I thought what the heck, I'll give this a go and see if my impressions of the Receptor are the same in reality!

I'll update you in a few weeks when it arrives and has been out of the box to let you know how I am getting on with it.

Will the term MUSE really improve my music?
