Diagnostics and Factory Reset

The SY77 can be simply reset back to its factory condition.

The factory configuration is stored on a chip within the synthesiser. It is activated by a series of keystrokes. The synthesiser will be returned to the factory set, effectively a full reset, in a few seconds following execution.

The SY77 has a self diagnostic mode in the within an onboard ROM chip(s). This diagnostic mode is designed to help the Yamaha technician in the day and now you the synthesiser enthusiast understand what could be going on within the SY77.  

 

While the tests are relatively basic they do cover the main functions / capabilities of the synthesiser and with a bit of luck will steer you toward the area of the synth that will need attention.

 

The diagnostics will help you with the:

• User interface - All buttons, knobs, faders and screen

• keyboard - Each note on the key bed

• interfaces - Primarily MIDI connectivity

• inputs - Foot pedals and switches

• outputs - Master and sub outputs plus headphones

Once executed you should be able to rule a section of the SY77 in or out of your problem.
